About me

Before becoming a web developer, I was a qualified electrical and electronics engineer, solving problems and providing solutions in industrial applications.

During my career as an engineer, I discovered that I had a natural ability to write code. A few years later, I established Chill Web Designs in my hometown of Great Yarmouth.

I’m a self-taught PHP developer with over 15 years of experience in building websites, bespoke systems and Progressive Web Applications (PWAs).

My objective is to provide affordable website development and graphic design services to help local businesses in the virtual and real worlds.

I aim to achieve this by bringing ideas and visions to life, through eye-catching website design and digital and printed marketing materials.

I am also a commercial photographer who can provide striking images to enhance your website even further.

I pride myself on providing a professional, personal, and friendly service that is flexible to clients’ needs and budgets. That can be anything from office stationery such as business cards and corporate brochures to websites with e-commerce facilities.

My methodology

These are the six simple steps I follow to design and develop your website and get you online.

Discovery

I take the time to understand your business needs, target audience and aspirations for your website. I will be open and honest from the outset and explain what can be achieved with your resources and budget. I will use the opportunity to discuss web hosting and domain options for your new website or review any existing hosting to ensure it is fit for purpose.

Planning

The first step in developing a successful website is careful research and planning. As is said, the devil is in the detail. I will carefully go through all aspects of your site and start by creating wireframes and reviewing the information architecture (IA).

Website Design

The design phase is where the visual look of the website starts to take shape. I use wireframes to build your website with the content organised to maximise user engagement with a clear call to action. I can ensure that visitors enjoy an informative, user-friendly, and engaging experience while browsing your website.

Web Development

After I have received the content for your site, the web development process starts. Development is the process of combining the visuals and materials into code that web browsers understand. The websites I develop use the latest standards and coding practices, with emphasis on search engine optimisation, accessibility, and user experience (UX).

Debug & Launch

The last phase is where finishing touches are made to your website before it is launched. Your website will undergo extensive testing on different mobile, tablet devices, and modern web browsers. You will have an opportunity to view your site before it is launched.

Support Packages

Each support package I offer is bespoke to the needs of the project and client. As each website is unique, and individuals' technical knowledge and experience vary, some may opt to leave it to the experts to maintain and support your site. My support packages can include updating WordPress, server maintenance, applying security patches, updating PHP versions, and providing off-site backups for your website.
